What is the hiring process like at Emburse?

      Pros

The people actually doing the real work are incredibly talented and very kind.

      Cons

Leadership. You know the company is in trouble when the new CEO comes in talking about stripping clients of support and charging them outrageous service increases with the tag line "if they don't like it they can leave" only to completely 180 a year later after it turns out that in fact, clients are leaving. Completely beholden to short term revenue increases to appease K1 at the expense of the long term health of the company. The people who advance their careers here are the people who spend every all-hands meeting spamming emotes after every sentence an executive utters. The billing team is criminally negligent in the way they handle client billing disputes and this has been a problem for half a decade now. Return to work policies explicitly being driven in an attempt to get employees to leave so the company doesn't have to lay them off (note how virtually no one in leadership is required to be in office). Every team is on an island fighting for themselves and overworked due to layoffs and despite making the company more revenue than it ever has, merit increases are non-existent while the people running the business into the ground get to fly around the world for president's club. Emburse is everything wrong with corporate America today due to the emphasis on maximing temporary PE returns at the expense of the sustainability of the company and the people that built it.

      now
Thank you for your many years with Emburse and for sharing such candid feedback. We’re grateful that you recognized the talent and kindness of the people doing the work every day, and we are sorry to hear that your broader experience has left you feeling this way. Concerns about leadership trust, workload, customer experience, and workplace policies are serious, and we do not want any employee to feel unheard or devalued. Emburse is focused on building a stronger, more sustainable company for our customers and our people, and that requires clear communication, accountable leadership, and a culture where employees can raise concerns directly. Since you are a current employee, we strongly encourage you to speak with your manager, HR partner, or People Ops so we can better understand the specific issues you’re seeing and work through them constructively.

Continually cutting corners - ELT are the problem.

      Pros

There are still some great people at Emburse (for now) and the product has potential if the right decisions are made

      Cons

Unfortunately, the direction of the company is making it increasingly difficult to succeed in sales. The biggest issue is that the only people who seem to benefit from recent changes are the Executive Leadership Team (ELT). These decisions are damaging for the rest of us, particularly those of us in new business roles. Here are the specific issues: 1. Processes Are Hindering New Business: The processes put in place over the last year are ineffective and actively harm our ability to close new deals. 2. Leadership Missteps: My trust and belief in Emburse have been eroded due to poor decisions from leadership. The impact of these choices has been profound, not just for morale but for performance. You are merely a pawn in their game of chess. 3. Failed Pricing Analysis: The pricing analysis has been a disaster. It’s clear the leadership didn’t listen to those of us who are customer-facing, and this has directly led to us losing deals we should have won. We continue to have aggressive pricing which stops new business being competitive and hits customers with huge increases (resulting in churn and loss of large accounts) 4. Unrealistic Targets: Removing customer upsell opportunities has made hitting 2025 targets unachievable. The path to success has been effectively taken away and targets are only going to increase! 5. Earnings Potential at Risk: With all these factors combined, my ability to achieve the financial goals I expect in this role is going to be impossible next year. Hence my departure.

Great Interview Process & Good First Week

      Pros

Recruiting process was great and moved a lot faster than I expected. After my first week, can say that the people and teams seem fantastic. People are very welcoming and willing to help me get up and running. The culture is open, fast moving, and while there is a lot of work to do, there is a lot of executive support to do it.

      Cons

So far no cons. A lot of changes but what company doesn't have change?
