What are perks and other benefits like at Harper James?

For any experienced lawyer who wants/needs some flexibility around their working life, this is a great place to work. The people who work here are happy, because they have the right balance between their work and personal life. The pay, the clients and the benefits are all good too. Private healthcare, good pension, holiday purchase, electric cars and a monthly bonus structure rather than annually. It is also an innovative firm embracing new tech where is helps lawyers deliver for clients.

The cons are if you prefer a traditional office based firm with the traditional working hours. If you do, this place is not for you.

What I love is that Harper James isn't afraid to evolve and grow - constantly looking at our people policies, benefits and ways of working to ensure people are at the heart of everything we do, whilst a 10 year+ established company we work more like a tech start up - very progressive!!!! I think a great culture here exists, and people are genuinely warm and empathetic. I enjoy interacting with everyone I interact with. You get a lot of autonomy to manage your workload and time as you see fit, and a company with that amount of trust in it's people is a winner for me personally.

Sometimes, our people find remote working hard, even though it's such an amazing positive benefit for the teams that can work remotely. I would just ask any potential candidates for remote roles to fully review and understand what it means to be a part of a remote team that only meets up a few times a year. Think of the time and money you save on commuting, but put strategies in place to help you prioritise your own mental health, build your network of friends here (and you will, everyone is lovely).

I've been at Harper James for just over a year now, I joined a great team, where everyone shares an emphasis on improvement. I feel as though I've grown a lot over the past year as a professional but also as an individual. There are plenty of good employee benefits, without any of the office politics that you can find in a lot of other roles.

There is parking first come first serve, if you want to guarantee yourself a personally allocated space you can pay a small monthly fee.

A very supportive working environment which listens to its staff and takes on board suggestions for improvements. Incredibly flexible working arrangements. As the business grows, it continuously enhances its benefits package and infrastructure. Good quality work that is matched to an individual's preferences.

Sometimes the IT systems are not as reliable as other larger law firms. However, this is continuously being improved.
