How are senior leaders perceived at Hyperoptic?

      Hyperoptic reviews

      Good place to work

      Anonymous employee
      Current employee
      Belgrade, Central Serbia
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Different benefits, like additional time off, birthday day off, working from anywhere 2 weeks, sweet Tuesdays, prolonged paternity leave etc For those who are handworkers and good performance, career progression happens fairly often You get exposure to leadership teams and seniors in the business because the company is relatively small, and it is great for development Great work/life balance, work is not overbearing and I don't think a lot of people experience burnout Trips to the UK/Serbia office

      Cons

Used to work in Villas in Serbia, but now we are more corporate and work in a business building, and we don't have parking provided by the company

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are very happy to read you find Hyperoptic a good place to work and enjoy the benefits - it's great to know these perks have made a positive impact on your experience. We're also proud that our culture supports career growth for hardworking, high-performing individuals and that you've found value in the exposure to leadership and development opportunities. We appreciate your feedback about the transition from villas to a more corporate setting in Serbia. While we’ve evolved, we’re always looking for ways to improve. Thanks again for being part of our journey and for sharing your experience, the Culture and Engagement Team

      Pros

You learn a lot. You really get the gist of the 'fast-paced-environment' phrase. (This could also be a con) The pay is regular. You can progress in your career within the company.

      Cons

Micromanagement. Bad TLs. Bad in terms that they don't really listen to the people who actually do the work, but the management only follows the data which is often wrong. The Leadership team only listens to the orders of the higher management, so there are no actual improvements that will affect your workload in a good way.

      Pros

Great salary. Hours are nice. Benefits pretty good with private medical cover. Really good opportunity’s to progress within Hyperoptic. People are valued.

      Cons

Basics can be missed. Very rarely get made aware of changes as they coming and instead are made aware of them the day before things change. Senior management for my department changes all the time and rarely feel they are engaged with anyone below management. Real disengagement between departments often

Great team, but organizational chaos held back potential

      Client marketing manager
      Former employee
      Hammersmith, England
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

The client team was excellent to work with - collaborative, skilled, and supportive. The role itself offered good variety and interesting challenges that kept work engaging. There's genuine potential here if the organizational issues can be resolved.

      Cons

The wider marketing function suffered from significant instability, with frequent leadership changes creating unclear direction and making cross-functional collaboration difficult. For a fast-paced, growing business, the support structure was inadequate. Strategic direction shifted often, which created confusion and made it hard to execute effectively or plan long-term initiatives.

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Well nothing more then other companies, maybe a bit less stress in some teams.

      Cons

-Limited break (who eats only one time a day? Or only one time during 8 hours?) -Very unprofessional managers (as someone below mentioned - managers are selected here based by how long have they been in the company and not by their knowledge, also it helps if you are on good terms with someone from HR or higher ups) -Very little chances for promotion or advancement ( That is cause new job offers are posted very rarely) * One will have very limited chances to succeed in this company as I mentioned because of limited job offers, but that is because company is not ready to expand their budget in order to hire more people for teams who actually need more people. However they are ready to pay lunches and dinners and much more to their executives. My own supervisor literally bragged about how the company paid for their lunch in the amount of 1000 euros. * Apart of all this, make sure that your salary will almost never be calculated well as there is only one employee who deals with calculations and salaries and that employee makes a lot of mistakes. Think twice before you apply

Thanks for leaving a review. We are concerned you feel you are unable to take a break from work, we value our employees' wellbeing and want our employees to take breaks from work as and when needed. If this is something you feel you are unable to do, please speak to your Line Manager or HR Business Partner. In regards to our promotion process, promotions arise in three ways: one, as you mentioned, due to the role being advertised, another when the org has a need for a new role, and finally to reward talent and achievement. In response to your feedback on salaries, we take care to ensure our salary review progress follows two key principles: parity and performance. Ensuring our salaries are competitive in the market and that Hyperoptic recognises and rewards performance. We would like to discuss your feedback in more detail, please can we ask that you contact your Line manager or your HR Business Partner so we can help address your concerns. Thanks again, The Culture and Engagement team
