      Business Outlook

      Pros

      - Fully remote - The product genuinely helps customers - Many kind, capable coworkers at the individual contributor level - Decent onboarding and training

      Cons

Much of what could be said here has already been repeated in previous negative reviews. Issues around culture, transparency, and internal politics are consistent and real. What stands out most is leadership behavior. You will be repeatedly told you’re doing great work, meeting expectations, and adding value, until you’re suddenly let go. Performance issues are cited that were never previously raised, documented, or discussed, leaving people blindsided and confused. There is a pattern of rewriting the narrative after the fact. Leadership will publicly post in channels about how someone has “decided to move on,” framing departures as voluntary even when they clearly are not. If you make a minor misstep or fall out of alignment with leadership’s personal values, a quiet grudge can form. From there, it often feels like a matter of time before a reason is found to push you out, regardless of prior performance or contributions.

Hi 👋 - I know this is a real review because we're the only ones to call Support team members "Drivers". Thanks for the work you do to move Jane forward and how you take care of the Customers every day! 👏 Short and sweet review today. I always assume these ones are because of that "Glassdoor is forcing me to leave a review if I want to use their platform" ha. But I'm glad you find Jane to be a Wonderful Work Environment! Glad that you're feeling positive about the team you work with and the way you're compensated. Definitely true that the pace can be intense - and we're always looking to find ways to make that a little easier.... It's pretty incredible how much our Customer Community wants to connect. Did you know that in the last 7 days we've had conversations with over 10,000 unique customers! I love that we're here to support and champion their practices as they work with Jane, but definitely appreciate that this means that our Customer Team has a lot on their plate. It's nice that our Customers are pretty delightful to work with themselves. I pulled up the "Happiness" report from the last 7 days and this is the first comment from one of the customers we helped: "I just love chatting with Jane people. I might start coming on just for the friendly conversation! And I got my questions answered easily. Thank you!!" So that's probably our fault. ha. They just like talking to us. 💕 Hope that time helps with finding some calm in the role and looking forward to working together moving forward! Ali Co-Founder/Co-CEO On Behalf of Jane

An average job; great at execution but lousy culture

      Pros

The company has a steady growth with a remote-friendly culture. Their benefits and pay are fairly standard (although they might feel that what they offer is out of the ordinary or more than industry standard). There are some standout employees who are passionate and enjoyable to work with.

      Cons

While the remote-first culture is nice for work-life balance, I do not feel that employees know each other very well, nor is there an effort to proactively foster a more tight knit culture. This is a place where you simply work your 8 hours and log off. There hasn't been a pay increase for a while and I do not feel that the pay is keeping up with inflation or exceeding the industry standard. Feedback on pay and benefits were brushed off by senior leaders. There has been many surveys from senior leadership about the state of the company. However, there is little confidence that they are able or willing to respond to the many concerns from the employees. Feedback about the unresponsive leadership and other shortcomings were met with shrugs, nor are the people partners/managers willing to take proactive actions to steer the ship in the right direction.

      Politics, favoritism and nepotism

      Pros

Strong product with a loyal, passionate user base. The customer community is impressive and one of the company’s biggest assets. Some genuinely kind, well-intentioned colleagues. Company retreats and holiday gifts are a nice touch and appreciated. Remote first policy still stands and the company has avoided layoffs, though additional responsibilities have been quietly added without compensation, acting as a stealth pay cut. Financially conservative leadership that has ensured growth and sustainability. ESOP is a nice incentive for longer term employees, though the value of this is unlikely to be as meaningful for newer hires in my opinion

      Cons

Favoritism and nepotism are prevalent. There’s a different culture and set of expectations for those that are in certain cliques and that are friends of senior leadership, including the founders. The treatment and expectations for these individuals are dramatically different from others, especially newer hires. Given there are multiple examples of this in completely separate departments, these are not one offs. This is part of the culture. Politics outweighs performance. Advancement and opportunity is often tied more to social alignment and personal relationships with leadership than to results or experience. If you’re not in the inner circle or don’t play along, your growth is limited, or worse, you’ll be pushed out. The worst management I’ve experienced in my career was at Jane. Many leaders are either inexperienced or outright toxic, and they tend to hire in their own image creating a self-perpetuating cycle. The company promotes a message of inclusivity, support, and psychological safety, but the reality is pretty much the opposite. Bullying and intimidation behaviors are tolerated and typically come from the same favored individuals mentioned above. Feedback is frequently dismissed or deflected with toxic positivity. Attempting to raise valid concerns and provide suggestions for improvements, especially about culture or favoritism, is often met with gaslighting or silence. Experienced employees frequently disappear without explanation. People would go from being visible to gone overnight, often after challenging the status quo or seemingly being disliked by certain people or groups. Critical decisions are made by a select few, and when those decisions go wrong, blame is often passed down. Documenting conversations and decisions becomes essential to protect yourself. There’s more energy spent on optics than outcomes and the ratio of people actually doing the work to those talking about it is way off.

      Pros

I can’t say enough about the people in Support at Jane. It’s a team full of smart, caring humans who genuinely want to help each other win. There’s a real partnership here. No egos, just people showing up for each other and for our customers. The work is meaningful and interesting. We’re not just answering tickets, we’re supporting practitioners who are building and running their businesses, and that responsibility matters. Jane is growing and evolving in exciting ways, improving the product and expanding who we get to serve, while staying grounded in the culture of care and heart that made it special. This has honestly been one of the best teams and roles I’ve been part of.

      Cons

This is a pro for me, but for those who prefer a slower pace and consistency, you will have to consider whether Jane is for you. Jane is growing, and like other hyper-growth companies, change is constant. Priorities can shift as we scale, and that can feel fast at times. But it also means there are opportunities to shape what we’re building and have real impact.

Great people, meaningful work, and a culture that actually lives up to what they say in the interview. - Competitive compensation, great perks, and you feel like the company actually invests in its people. - You know what's going on and why decisions are being made — no guessing games. - The culture is humble and caring — employees are genuinely looked after - Learning & growth opportunities

      Cons

Honestly, less than a year in, I haven't found much to complain about.

Okay, calling Jane "genuinely one of the best places I've worked" less than a year in, and then basically having nothing to complain about? Now that's kinda amazing 🥹 . I'm phil, I work on the People side of things at Jane, focused on how people grow and build thriving careers here. You're experiencing Jane at a particular moment, one where we're moving fast, betting big on AI, and asking our Engineering team to hold a lot of ambiguity while we figure out what the next version of Jane looks like. The fact that what you've found is great people, meaningful work, and a culture that actually shows up the way it was described in your interview means we're doing some stuff right! I also appreciate you naming the competitive compensation. I know first-hand how hard it is to get this right having played a part in scaling our compensation frameworks at Jane. Paying folks fairly in the wild job market of tech is so tricky, in some ways, it can feel like we're never getting it right cause it's shifting all the time. So I'm glad to hear that it's landing for you. And those perks... I mean, just look at how spoiled we were at our company retreat this past week 🤩 ! So many folks refer to how different it is to work at a company where you actually feel cared for. I would agree that this definitely makes Jane stand out. It's such a tricky harmony to land where people feel cared for while still upholding a strong culture of hard work, accountability, and delivering results. We choose to do it all, and not compromise on care or delivering strong results. One of my favourites stats from our company health check is how high we continuously score on "my manager cares about me as a human being" - 96% in our last survey! The thing you named about transparency, knowing what's going on and why decisions are being made, I think that clearly came through in our company retreat this past week. There's a real commitment from Ali and Trevor to bring people along rather than hand down conclusions, and I think you're seeing that. Engineers at Jane sit close to some genuinely hard tradeoffs, speed versus quality, stability versus innovation, and the fact that those tradeoffs feel visible and honest to you rather than hidden or spun is what we need to protect as we grow. I'm glad you're here, and if ever you wanna grab a coffee to share more about what your first year has actually looked, I'm here for it! I hope you Jane journey is filled with much more learning and growth to come ☺️ . - phil

      - Great company culture - Fair compensation with employee stock options - Fully remote w/ good work life balance - They say they will not chase growth at all costs

      Cons

      - Company is rapidly growing to keep ahead of competition and expansion, which means there is a balancing act between feature development velocity and maintenance - Could have better base PTO

Hi there - thanks for your measured and honest review. I feel like these conversations on GlassDoor so frequently mirror our AskJaneLeadershipAnything channel and I can see a few of those conversations reflected here in your review. I'm glad we're talking about Growth and PTO internally as a team. Interestingly, I think they're both actually really conversations about the same thing: Sustainability. Sustainability of our team with PTO, and sustainability of our Business with Growth. You can burn out your people and you can burn out your company. This is part of our values - Love Jane, Work Hard and Have Fun. Love Jane includes the Customer, The Product, The Team and the Company. Setting a bar of Delight for each of these groups and doing things better. Trying to set a really high bar without putting the future at risk - with both the expectations we put on the performance of the team and the Company. Work Hard is setting ambitious goals: In a way that, again, navigates short and long term health (which I suppose is a way of defining sustainability in the Growth world). Speed and Quality. Both take intention. Hitting our ambitious goals and producing work that will delight our customers. And Have Fun helps us ensure we are all inspired by the work we're doing and the role we're in. That we're keeping the Customer at the forefront (because serving them is so rewarding) and that we're doing work we're all really really really proud of. I know you're newer to Jane and so there's still some trust building to do - as seen in your Pro of "They say they will not chase growth at all costs." Let's work on that together. I mentioned in my comment in slack that "Breaking Jane for Growth would make no sense and be counter-productive. I would be the first to fight against a Growth Plan that hurts Jane’s Brand, Customer or Team." I stand by that - so message me if you see things breaking in a way that is bad for Jane. Helping Jane be as successful as possible is literally my job description 😉. As for PTO - we'll keep that conversation going internally. With holiday bonus time and our extra summer closures we do offer at least 4 weeks PTO for every role in the company, and a path to more with tenure. In those closure times I'm always feeling the stretch that our customers experience - we have to offer limited support and that's hard - and our customer team often comes back to a higher workload. But I'd like to continue to explore ways that our lives can co-exist with our working schedules. As a mum of 3 teenagers I'm always working on how to be the CEO and Mother I can be proud of. Both of those roles require my time. There's definitely a sustainability conversation for all of us as we examine our work/life experience. Ali - Co-Founder/Co-CEO On behalf of Jane.

      Toxic Culture and Managed Poorly

      Business Outlook

      Pros

One of the major bonus is that it is fully remote and the people are truly the best (besides leadership)

      Cons

The current leadership at Jane has completely lost sight of what made the company successful: its people. The culture has become increasingly toxic, with a CEO whose attitude seems to be, "If you don't like it, then leave." This approach is not only dismissive but deeply narcissistic. Talented employees who built the foundation of Jane’s success are leaving in droves, either because they disagree with the unreasonable demands placed on the support team or because they've been pushed out by egotistical managers who refuse to take accountability for their actions. The environment is no longer one of collaboration and respect, but rather one of frustration and disillusionment.

Goodness. You. have strong feelings and I'm sorry you don't agree with how Trevor and I are leading Jane. I have said, and do believe, that if people aren't thriving they should consider leaving their roles at Jane. Not as a first action, but if it's become clear that there's no path to success. And that's actually because I think it's narcissistic to believe that Jane is the best and only workplace for every single person. We might not be. That's okay. I would rather someone was successful and thriving in their careers elsewhere than struggling and not succeeding at Jane. I hope that this has been true for you as you've moved on to work somewhere else and that you've found a company and leadership you believe in. Ali - Co-Founder/Co-CEO
