What is the hiring process like at Loopio?

Great storytelling during interviews, inconsistent execution internally

      Pros

The culture promoted during interviews did not align with my experience after joining the company.

      Cons

Loopio strongly emphasizes its culture and values during the interview process, and these are presented very positively. However, my experience after joining did not align with what was communicated. There was a significant gap between the culture that is promoted externally and the reality of day-to-day working inside the organisation. Decision-making regarding people and roles often felt abrupt, with limited transparency and inadequate time given for employees to adjust or improve. The approach came across as more transactional than people-centric, which was disappointing given the company’s stated values. Additionally, the Senior Leadership Team did not demonstrate the level of support, empathy, or accountability that one would expect, especially during challenging situations. This lack of consistency between messaging and actions made it difficult to build trust and feel psychologically safe at work.

      Pros

      - Open dialogue with Management! Speaking with candor from the CEO to my direct Manager! - Supportive and masterful team members! Everyone is so collaborative and skilled in their own disciplines - Totally remote work! With such flexibility it's easy to dive right into my craft and not have to worry about making my train to commute home!

      Cons

      - Reorg early in my tenure here, will miss my hiring manager and team members but am thrilled by how engaged our new management and team is!

Beware of layoffs and false promises

      Business Outlook

      Pros

      - Some team members and managers are genuinely exceptional - Generous paid time off - Remote friendly

      Cons

      - Two rounds of layoffs occurred within a short timeframe despite management assurances - The interview process is long and demanding, yet leadership may still terminate individuals months later - Despite reduced headcounts, directors and managers are expected to maintain the same workload - There's a lack of clear product vision and leadership direction - Leadership often takes the backseat - Teams experience significant friction due to leadership defending siloes rather than improving collaboration - The C-Suite is out of touch with employees' experiences and concerns - Despite low morale, the focus remains on DEI surveys rather than addressing fundamental issues - Lengthy IT approval processes and turnaround times hinder productivity - Some teams produce subpar work due to outsourcing, with leadership failing to hold them accountable

      Loopio Response
      now
We appreciate your detailed feedback and the time you've taken to share your thoughts about your experience at Loopio. Your feedback is valuable to us as we strive to improve and make Loopio a better place to work. I’m glad to see that some of our talented Loopers have made a positive impact on your experience here. We acknowledge the frustration and disappointment stemming from the layoffs. The decision to part ways with some of our team members was a tough yet necessary business decision for us, as leaders, to make, but I can appreciate that it was much harder on all impacted Loopers, and their colleagues who remained behind. Your feedback about a disconnect between the C-Suite and employees is something we take seriously. Improving this connection is a focal point for us in FY24. If you were present at Base Camp, you may have heard about our "How We Work" initiative, focusing on Leadership & Decision-Making. We've taken your feedback to heart and are addressing this issue. Regarding the DEI surveys, we aim to hold ourselves accountable for fostering a diverse and inclusive environment. This remains a key part of our commitment to our employees, and something we believe is very important. However, we recognize the layoffs have affected morale, and we're sorry. We encourage you to contact your manager or People Operations for specific support. Again, thank you for your feedback. If you're a current Looper, we encourage you to share specific feedback through an AMA question or the Monthly Pulse engagement survey, or reach out to Zak directly.
