Pros
The people that work here are great.
Cons
It’s incredibly sad to write this, because the business that exists today is not what it was 12 months ago * Like school children, everyone is marched into a room one by one and made to essentially fight for their jobs. Only today a bunch of people were taken into the dreaded glass room and let go with no warning, a week before Xmas. Leaderships message is now they don’t care if there’s only 5 people left as long as they are making money and the ‘soft stuff’ as they call it (support, training and empathy in other words) no longer exists. And you have to be willing to work all of the hours in the world for the privilege of this environment. * Despite the owner announcing that the company is doing well and there is “millions in the bank”, the same day they made mass redundancies and let go of most of the support staff without explanation or empathy. To this day they still haven’t made an official announcement as to why, as leadership feels that this information isn’t relevant to the sales floor. Although now we’re being told they will finally do a Q&A session so we can understand what their game plan is. I can’t wait to hear their excuses for treating people the way they do. * Trainees have no support. Part of the mass redundancies was the entire L&D and HR team. They have been left with pretty much no training and the managers are so busy trying to keep their own jobs that no one is able to spend time with them, so they’re lasting only a couple of weeks before being fired because of the inability to do the job, which isn’t their fault. (But the support team being let go has no relevance to the sales team?) * The current leadership is completely out of their depth and couldn’t run a bath, never mind a business. The new do as I say not as I do attitude is becoming a regular motto; As they walk around trying to make forced conversations and attempt to make jokes, i’m trying to work out whether they are purposely oblivious to the thoughts and feelings of everyone or completely delusional. * There is a clear favourable bias from leadership towards men and those with a high socioeconomic background. If you are a women from a lower income area, stay far far away as you will never succeed under the current leadership. * Everyone is miserable, but trying their best to keep up beat as possible whilst people bide their time leading up to Xmas. As I said in my pro’s section, the people really are great, and it has a we’re in this together feel whilst the business is on fire around us. * All benefits have stopped without warning. Everyone was made to return to the office 5 days a week from the previous hybrid model. We were told on the Monday and expected to be in that week, no exceptions, even people with kids/dogs who then had to scramble to find care. Apparently they’re going to ‘try’ and bring back some benefits in January, but I’ll believe it when I see it. Overall, if you want to start or grow a career in recruitment, you do not want to do that here. Go and find somewhere else, anywhere else, that actually cares abouts its employees and treats them with the respect you deserve. The current market is difficult enough without having the added pressure of no job security, lack of support, and being in an uncomfortable and degrading environment
