What is the salary like at Rawson Saunders School?

The kids are amazing to work with, and the parents are very supportive. Small classes are huge perk. In many ways, this is what teaching is supposed to be like. The pay is pretty good. It's on par with the local ISDs and more than most charter schools.

Leadership at the top is toxic. The head of school rules with an iron fist, and all the other admin just go along with it because no one wants to jeopardize their own employment. The result is an admin team that is not supportive of their teachers and is incredibly condescending to the kids. Turnover is between 20% and 30% each year. That stat speaks for itself. Happy teachers don't leave.

I have been part of the Rawson Saunders family for many years now and I love the continuous support of the entire community! The teachers, the administrators, and all employees are dedicated to the success of students, and they are always there to help each other. With the Head of School leading the way, RS has been growing year after year... I have been watching her work tirelessly to improve the RS experience for both students and employees. The salaries are competitive, the benefit package is very generous, including an exceptional 401K plan. I report directly to the Head of School – while she has a ton on her plate at any given moment, she always makes me feel that I have her full attention whether I have a question, a suggestion, or need additional support. In my experience, she wants to get to know employees and aims to provide an encouraging environment to help all of us thrive.

While centrally located, the campus has some challenges – it can feel cramped at times but each year we seem to be able to find creative ways to improve it.

The teachers are wonderful and devoted to the kids. The kids are delightful and the classes are small.

The facilities are a joke and certainly don’t reflect the exceptionally high tuition. There’s no clear salary structure and people are paid inconsistently. The leadership is terrible, across the board. Head of school is a control freak and doesn’t allow anyone to do their job without micromanaging. It’s incredibly inefficient and results in a total lack of plan or vision- everything they do is reactionary. HoS is an alcoholic who regularly gets wasted at staff parties and says inappropriate things to employees. She is vindictive and if you get on her bad side she will treat you like dirt before firing you. She fixates on minor problems and teachers she doesn’t like to the detriment of the rest of the school. She also fixates on students and has kicked out several students who were on scholarship for infractions that rich kids don’t get kicked out for. I could go on forever about the astounding behavior of the head of school. The high turnover rate should speak volumes.
