What are perks and other benefits like at SonderMind?

I personally find the straightforward documentation processes helpful, ease of submitting a claim and the platform to be rather seamless. The business takes a cut of your session fee but their assistance to mitigate insurance and VA Community Care is well worth it for me to be blissfully ignorant of the US healthcare system's view of mental health services that are often consistent and long term.

The cons are indicative of the industry, not Sondermind themself. I have just received a job offer outside of the healthcare industry and I plan on taking it, I find working in the mental healthcare industry to be so draining and negatively reinforcing because hospital systems have an unrealistic productivity metric that creates intense burn out in a short timeframe, and private practice allows for freedoms and a work life balance with the stress of not being paid for each cancellation that cannot be filled, no paid time off, no retirement benefit, and ironically no healthcare options. Sondermind is a great platform if you'd like to stay in the industry, but I would consider staying in any of these businesses operating in the mental health industry if they offered any kind of benefit package. It has always felt ironic and hopeless to think that I can offer a healthcare service while I could not afford to take advantage of the same service because this career often doesn't include a realistic salary, benefits package and basic concept like paid time off / maternity leave.

Great company mission that benefits those in need

Awful managment, zero growth, no raises despite yoy revenue growth, culture is awful, they removed benefits without notice, micromanagement, complete lack of project awareness - every project is highest priority

While there has been some great progress in this area, changes are not always communicated effectively between departments, leaving teams in the dark. This is essentially private practice but with referrals and billing taken care of, choose your schedule and remain in full control of it, choose your clients, choose how often you work, super easy platform and EHR

Wish the pay was higher, right now session rates are around 92 each, they keep the rest of what gets billed to insurance, would be nice if they offered benefits, need more referrals definitely not a FT job

Everything from interviewing to benefits is wonderful.

The only cons may be if you don't like to stay busy.

As most positions are remote, you have to know how to be able to work independently and get things done. This is a busy fast fast-paced work environment. If you can't keep up or get overwhelmed easily ,it might not be for you.

Reimbursement rates of $80 for therapy, $93 for DAa, and the ability to charge for no-shows automatically. Set your own schedule, hand pick the clients that are a good fit for you. They are constantly involved in research and on the leading-edge of things.

They will give you a TON of referrals, but only a small percentage are actually interested in therapy. You should plan to generate your own referrals too. Because this is independent contractor, you will need to set aside money for taxes out of every paycheck. Also no benefits available.
