How are senior leaders perceived at TikTok?

      TikTok reviews

      Keeping up in a fast

Senior key account manager; key account manager
      Current employee
      London, England
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Amazing colleagues, great benefits, learning curve, the product.

      Cons

Leadership is only focused on rapid scaling and revenue. No individual growth plan, 5 days required in office, top down culture, no trust, micro management leadership style.

      Pros

Fun culture good leadership great diversity

      Cons

      None great job from leadership

      No vision

      Team lead
      Current employee

      Business Outlook

      Pros

      * Free lunch * Free snacks

      Cons

      * Account manager calibration is extremely poor, lack of motivation * Leadership has no clear vision, using Chatgpt to craft their strategy, not able to bring anything valuable to the table * Salaries are really poor * Account managers are trying to have their managers dismissed by writing false and unsubstantiated reviews during performance reviews, while the senior leadership team knowingly ignores the situation.

      Pathetic Management and Horrible HR

Only thing I felt good about the company is the benefits they offer

      Cons

A Masterclass in Terrible Management and Toxic Culture If you want to experience the absolute worst in corporate exploitation, look no further than TikTok. Here’s what you’re signing up for: Work Like a Machine, Get Rated Like Trash – Expect to work 24/7, push beyond limits, and still be blindsided by terrible performance ratings. No matter what you achieve, your manager’s mood decides your fate. Performance Reviews Are a Joke – Hard work, dedication, and results mean nothing. Your rating is based on favoritism, office politics, and how well you please your manager—not your actual contributions. Zero Growth, Zero Mentorship – Don’t expect any real training or career development. You’re on your own. HR is Useless – Raise a concern, and they’ll pretend to listen. But don’t hold your breath for actual action. They exist to protect management, not employees. A Culture of Burnout and Fear – The work environment is built on unrealistic expectations, poor leadership, and a complete disregard for employee well-being. In short, if you want to master corporate survival skills, this is the place—you’ll develop a thick skin, a caffeine addiction, and an exit strategy real quick. Consider yourself warned.

Great people and benefits, but poor work-life balance

      Operations manager
      Former employee
      Austin, TX
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

The people were the best part and good health benefits (NA based).

      Cons

No work life balance, extremely disorganized, aggressive targets from leadership. The company is Chinese based and the regions all have to compete with each other so the expectation is to work long hours like the APAC region.

      Amazing company and people

      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

      - Flexible working culture, leadership receptive on ambitious ideas and enough product innovation

      Cons

      - WLB is a problem due to the cross-timezone difference - Unstable leadership and lack of transparency on decision making, it makes everyone feel you might get fired

No clear direction & weak leaders

      Anonymous employee
      Current employee
      San Jose, CA
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

      - We get Free Food - Free healthcare - Free snacks - Generous PTO

      Cons

      - No work life balance - Quantity over quality - Most people that I observe here value more work than making things efficient. - People that just follow are rewarded vs people that wants to improve processes - Weak leadership: No clear vision and performance reviews are often vague.

      Depends on the department

      Anonymous employee
      Former employee
      London, England
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

The role was supposed to be very interesting (on paper). Big scale. Overall good benefits, especially lunch in the office and health insurance. Creative vibe in the office.

      Cons

I had a rather negative experience but I think it depends on the department. - No transparency from the leadership, no goals or structure - everything seemed extremely random. The main reason for a task was "our manager wants this ASAP". No reliance on data when making decisions. There were cases of the actual data being adjusted to present the desired outcome instead. Very hierarchical company, despite the official company values. - Poor English and intercultural skills of the Chinese management and colleagues. Most issues were caused purely by this, which delayed progress and success significantly. - The culture and encouraged behaviour were different from the announced values. Too much gossip and politics among and even within teams, blaming each other and fighting for credit. All office chats I heard were essentially just complaining about work.
