What are perks and other benefits like at rater8?

I have really enjoyed working at rater8. Although I've only been here for four months, everyone has been incredibly welcoming and kind. There is a real team mentality and a feeling that we are all here to work together toward a common goal. The leadership team excels at leading rather than managing. This was very important to me when I was searching for a job, and I am so glad that I found it.

It is a start-up, so the benefits are still in the early stages, and you do have to use your own laptop. But I have not had any issues with that thus far. I just feel that it's important to know going in.

Fully remote work with unlimited PTO, great product, managers who care about their teams, a fun annual offsite, and lots of opportunities for career growth. I've been promoted several times since starting and every month it seems like lots of my peers are getting similar recognition. We are now going to get a work from home stipend which will be very helpful if my laptop dies! Management is ok if you take time to live and work from anywhere which is really flexible.

I wish I got to see my team more but that's the downside of working from home. Benefits are reasonable but nothing over the top.

Remote work culture is solid Product team builds a really good product Customers are very happy People here are very friendly and eager to help. Growing consistently & managed well financially. Not a lot of firings. If it happens, it seems justified. Some people get put on PIPs, but others get let go early. There have been some really smart people join the team, and they're definitely helping build the company. Small company closeness is still there, but might start to change as we grow. Lots of merit-based promotions.

Small company, so not a lot of resources for perks & benefits. Some transparency issues. Sometimes seems like execs are keeping secrets, but but it's a small company, so word gets around anyway. Makes them seem foolish. There's some nepotism that's pushed a few people into leadership roles - in some cases it's merited, in others not sure how/if they do any work. For a company that promotes junior employees as often as we do, execs have either been hired from outside, or they're family members. Not much internal promotion into those roles, but also pretty normal. Micro-management from certain people is disruptive, but not widespread. Pay is lower than most other tech companies, but they're also not doing a bunch of layoffs.

Coworkers were great. Direct manager is kind.

No WFH stipend, you have to use your own personal computer. Benefits are iffy. Very much a "we're family here" vibe in not a good way. It's extremely hard to get out of the SDR role here.
