Software Engineer In Test - Computational Biology Interview

      Aug 21, 2020
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 5 months. I interviewed at 10x Genomics

      Interview

The interview was a day-long process. It started with a 30 min presentation on the interviewee's part. I described some of my research. Then I was asked several questions by the software and computational biology teams. The presentation was a nice ice breaker that let me get to know a lot of faces and names in a short period of time. Then I had several one-on-one's with people from the teams I would be working with. I was asked several problem solving questions that's typical for a software engineer interview. I was also asked a few computational biology knowledge questions. Overall it was tiring but it was a great experience.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Write a Python function that takes a string and returns a de Bruijn graph.
