I interviewed for an instructor position and had a fairly lengthy initial interview that lasted over an hour. I came in with extensive experience in the field, and the conversation felt thorough and promising. At the end of the interview, I was asked to return the following day for a working interview/tryout.
I made the effort to come back the next day and spent another hour on-site. During this time, I worked one-on-one with clients and got a firsthand look at how the program operates. I was fully engaged and did my best to contribute in a meaningful way.
However, the experience during the tryout was mixed. One of the instructors present was noticeably disengaged. She did not interact with the clients and spent the entire time writing notes while I was actively working with them. This created an uncomfortable dynamic and did not reflect a supportive or collaborative environment.
After investing over two hours across both days, I left feeling hopeful about the opportunity, but I never received any follow-up or communication. A simple update would have been appreciated.
Overall, the lack of communication and professionalism after the time commitment was disappointing.
