      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Airtable (San Francisco, CA) in May 2019

      Interview

Drawn out, difficult, painful interview process without much respect for your time. 1) Phone Screen. 2) A written assignment that they say takes 2-3 hours but in actuality, it took me over 14 hours. They said that I had did well on that so 3) I had to fly to San Francisco, (which I do not live in California) to do an onsite in person interview loop. The it was 4 interviews, each about 45 minutes to an hour with demos, skills tests, q&a's etc. which went well. BEWARE: They covered the flight and hotel, but not food or transportation from the San Francisco Airport. Which, the Uber from the San Francisco hotel & airport was EXTREMELY expensive as you can imagine for California prices. I ended up having to spend about $200 just come out there and interview with them, waste my time, and endure this torturous process, and get through the last stages where they told me everything was going well, only to find out I didn't even get the job. They just sent a generic copy paste rejection letter saying there's not a fit. I sent an email requesting feedback which was well deserved after everything I had invested just to interview with them. They didn't even have the decency to respond. 0/10 for this company. Think twice before interviewing, as there is very little respect for you, your time, where you are in the process, and what you have to invest up front.

      Interview

I enjoyed the Airtable interview process. I feel the take home assignment is well designed and a good indicator as to whether or not candidates will enjoy/be a good fit for the role. Dare I say I enjoyed it? In my case, the process took 6 weeks between applying/accepting offer. Everyone I interacted with throughout the process was wonderful.

      Interview

I was excited to interview with Airtable because I think they have a great product and mission, but my experience left a horrible impression of the recruiting process there. I applied online and received a request to schedule an interview within a few days. On the day of the phone screen, the recruiter was 10 minutes late for our call which was scheduled for 1pm. When she finally called, she said she was having a crazy day and had a lot going on - which I completely understood, we're all trying to do our best these days. But then she said the reason for the delay was because she couldn't find my phone number (even though it was listed in the calendar invite for the call, in the application I submitted, and also at the top of my resume under my name...). She also said she had a hard stop at 1:30 and asked if I wanted to reschedule, but then backtracked and said, "you know what, actually, let's just get it over with now." She asked some really generic CS questions, and seemed disinterested and overall unprepared. She didn't give me any insight into the role, or ask me about my professional background (or really gave any indication that she had read my resume/application). After about 15 minutes, she apologized and said that someone was sending her frantic messages and asked again if I wanted to reschedule, but then backtracked once again and said, "you know what, let's just finish this up. Do you have any questions?" When I did ask a couple questions, she was brusque and sounded annoyed. If she decided early on that I wasn't the right fit for the role, I believe there's a polite and professional way to communicate that, without bringing up personal issues and wondering aloud about whether or not to reschedule the call. It had to be the most bizarre phone screen I've ever had in my life. I received a generic note a couple days later that I was not being moved forward in the hiring process. Phone screens are a candidate's first impression of a company, and my experience made me seriously question the professionalism of the CSA recruiting team at Airtable. It's possible this particular recruiter was having an off day, but based on the other review here for a similar role, this seems to be a pattern.

      Interview

Friendly email setting up the call from a different member of staff. Person who called seemed very disinterested in speaking to me and was quite keen to end the call before it had even started. A huge pity as I had heard great things about Airtable and do feel that this is not what I think they are aiming for in the candiadte experience.
