I received a phone call to come in for an interview. I toured the office to meet the current dispatcher and see the work station where all of the calls are taken and how everything is logged. This company mostly does runs between Sacramento and Reno, and also school field trips. They had a large board with their busses listed, showing where they were going, and what maintenance would need to be done and when. They had radio and phone communication lines, as well as dispatching software on computers. One requirement for the job was to keep the communication lines with you even at night when you are not at the site. I then met with the manager, supervisor and one other employee. They asked about my previous experience in dispatching and also about my office experience. They wanted to know how I dealt with any problems that arose when I worked for my previous place of employment. They asked about my knowledge of Department of Transportation and commercial trucking. They also asked general questions about what I do in my spare time, they did have a random list of questions which you could google and find about job interviews.
