I applied online. I interviewed at Allen Institute (Seattle, WA) in Jan 2017
Interview
I was contacted through e-mail and by phone to set up a telephone interview for the position. The phone interview went well, as expected. They asked about background information to get to know previous work experience and why you want to work for Allen Institute. I was contacted within a couple days to set up a face to face interview at the company. It was broken up into 2 panels with 3 people each for 30 minutes for each panel. The first 3 asked more previous experience related questions and how that fit in with the current position. The second panel, which included the head leader for the IVS (In Vivo Sciences) team, was asking more about how I handle stress and what tools I use to multitask and more in depth questions about my resume. Overall easy interview process and was told that I would hear back about a decision (whether I got the position or not) by the following week. The only negative thing I have to say is that after 2 weeks I had not heard anything on the position. I sent an e-mail to the IVS leader (with whom all of my e-mails about the position had come from) inquiring about a decision. She messaged me back within 10 minuted that they were actually still deciding and would get back to me. So I waited 3 more weeks and hadn't heard anything back so sent one last e-mail thanking them for giving me the opportunity for an interview and asked for feedback from my interview to help get a similar job in the future and never heard anything back from the company.
Initial screen, then 30 min with hiring manager and then a 45 min research talk with 5 hours of panel interviews. After all that, whole team including HR ghosted me even after I asked for updates several times. Super disrespectful, don’t be surprised if this happens to you too
