The process started great then ended bad. I applied on a Friday and was immediately contacted on the following Monday for an interview with the HR recruiter. The interview with the hiring manager went great. S/he took time to review my resume & ask me relevant questions. I was contacted the same day to schedule the next interview. The interview with 3 senior level staff members was going well until I was asked a microaggression question. "Has anyone ever told you that you're very confident?" I flipped it and thanked her & said "No. I'm very passionate about this topic." I had no script and was authentic & speaking with competence as a subject matter expert with the heart for truly addressing disparities and social determinants of health. My resume demonstrated my level of professionalism & expertise. Needless to say, I contacted the recruiter & hiring manager & have yet to even receive an automated email for my status after starting the interview process over 2 months ago. This company does not seem to be ready to truly embrace a culture that genuinely promotes Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI). You have to know when a company is not the best fit for your skills, character & work ethic. Never apologize for being prepared, intelligent, and confident (not arrogant). If you fail to prepare, you prepare to fail.
