I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at American Electric Power
Interview
Interview went very well and interview panel were all nice and professional. However, HR called to verbally guage my interest in a lower position. HR lady forcefully and repeatedly asked me about my current salary, which is illegal. I told her that the ranges she shared with me for the position are significantly lower than my current salary. She continued to ask about my current salary and wanted to know if I'm interested in the lower position even after I told her that their compensation is much lower. I tried to end the awkward conversation by saying that I will think about it. She continued to ask me if I'm going to be flexible with my expectations because she needs to let the hiring manager know. So, I told her that my interest is very low. The conversation was too manipulative, agressive and left a negative impression about the company and the professionalism of HR staff.
