Hydraulic and Lubrication System Design Engineer Interview

      Jun 10, 2022
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Chesapeake, VA
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at American GFM (Chesapeake, VA) in Jun 2022

      Interview

The interview process went smoothly from beginning to end. I received a message from a hiring manager and was asked to apply. I did and soon after received the offer to do a virtual interview within Indeed's ecosystem. I accepted and waited for the interview. The interview went as most do. I spoke about my background, my interests/hobbies, why I left some companies, and what I did for some of them. The hiring manager was kind, polite, and personable. He didn't beat around the bush when the topic of the job salary came up. My critique would be that the only question regarding the position was about my salary requirements. What the company had in mind and what I required didn't align, so the interview stopped there. No other questions, or comments, about the position were brought up. The salary was the first and last question. If you see a review regarding engineering salaries being notoriously low, then it's true. In my opinion, the salary the company has in mind is more along the lines of an entry level engineer. Unfortunately, in the current economic climate and job market, I feel that may be a hard sell to many people.
