      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Apadmi (Manchester, England)

      Interview

Weeks before the interview day, the person I was speaking with via email was very nice, caring and made me feel excited for the interview. On the day of the interview, I was greeted at reception where the desk clerk was rude, obnoxious and wasn't well mannered in the slightest. I knew they weren't hired directly by Apadmi, so I brushed it off and sat in the waiting area for around 20 minutes. A member of staff from Apadmi came and met me, shook my hand and welcomed me to the building. Similar to who I was emailing, she was very nice, calm and we had a great chat whilst walking up a few flights of stairs. Her persona was fantastic, and I was eager to start my interview. She walked me to a meeting room, offered me some water and left. Promptly after, this man appeared, the person I was having my interview with (I wish I remembered his name). As soon as he entered the room, his whole attitude and personality was just awful. He gave me a sheet with a UML question about Class Diagrams. It was a scenario about a library that hires out books, DVDs and CDs to its members, and you were left in a meeting room on your own for 30 minutes to illustrate the class diagram on the white board. By this point I was confused as to why I wasn't being questioned about myself, like any other interview. It was as though all they cared about was that I could do the job, rather than my personality and what I have to bring to the company. Not knowing I was even going to be tested on that day, I attempted to draw the class diagram anyway, even though the last time I did one was during university 3 years ago. I thought I did well, until the enraged interviewer then returned and said 'what on earth have you drawn'. He persisted with questioning me about the diagram I drew on the board (which turned out to be an ERD as that is that I am most accustomed to) and he persistently tried making me feel so small in that room. It was clear he was getting angry to the point of me wanting no part of the interview anymore. He carried on asking all sorts of questions, knocking my confidence to a huge low. He then started asking me programming questions, such as 'what is an object?' 'what is a class?' and I was too shaken to even give a clear, definitive answer. It was as though he was bullying me by what he was saying and trying to say. Obviously I knew the answers I was just too shaken to even open my mouth. He had no empathy and continued to grill me questions - which i couldn't answer as I had no clear head. I wanted out that room. With my confidence rock-bottom, the interviewer then proceeded to ask me questions regarding my CV, despite already telling me I didn't get the job. He asked me all sorts such as my A-level courses, what coding languages I do and many more. It was as though he was spitting words at me - hurling abuse at me. Shaking by this point, he then proceeded to ask me, as though it was comical, what my target grade was at uni. By responding with a 'first' his face just appeared to be smirking, as though it was comical that he knocked my confidence so low to the point I couldn't answer anymore questions. It was a huge blessing in disguise that I didn't even get the job, as it means I don't need to put up with the likes of him. An obvious bully, and I recommend only going to this interview with a great deal of caution and back bone. The company from my initial research seemed great and I was so excited for the interview, but that interviewer tarnishes the reputation of that company. Proceed with caution.

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Apadmi (Salford, North West England, England) in Nov 2023

      Interview

It was an easy process. It started with submitting my CV then was followed by a 15 minute call with HR that discusses what the job entails and how much the pay would. I was lucky enough to get through to the second part of the interview and was invited to the office to complete an in person interview. Which was 30 minutes of a whiteboard task then 30 minutes of discussing the task and asking questions

      Interview

I had two remote interviews. The first interview consisted of more general questions and the second was more technical and consisted of an engaging task. The process took around 2 weeks from the first contact to the final offer.
