      Test Engineer Interview

      Jun 24, 2018
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Las Vegas, NV
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Aristocrat (Las Vegas, NV) in Jun 2018

      Interview

Applied for the job online and heard back about a month later. Originally, I was supposed to speak with three people, including the department manager, but I was told he was busy. Instead, I had an hour long conversation with two members of the department. I do not get a job offer. The consideration of me was over less 2 seconds of meeting the interviewers. I made the unforgivable mistake of being older. I could see it in their eyes, body language and tone of the questioning, that they had no interest in talking to me due to my age. During certain points of the process, I had to lead the questioning process. I answered all the question asked easily, and under normal circumstances, would have expected to continue on in the process. Instead, they seemed more concerned about me infecting their conference table with my old-guy cooties and if they'd need to have it fumigated later on. Obviously, 30 years of solid software development, test and integration experience aren't enough there to overcome being over a certain age. They must have had some idea that I was over 50, given the amount of practical experience I had on my resume. This was a job I was more than qualified for and I was willing to work below the wage of anyone else they could have hired. I wish they'd been honest about their prejudice and terminated the interview on the spot. Of course, I never heard back from the Aristocrat HR representative. I gather that if they pass on a candidate, they can't be bother with a email.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They ask very general questions about my test background. They asked a few things about automated testing but later admitted that they don't used automated testing and have no plans to do so. The description for the job heavily emphasized automated testing requirements.

      Interview

I applied online, I had HR typical screening phone interview. I was then set for an interview with the hiring manager and two engineers for an hour and half. The hiring manager was engaging, and the technical interview with the two engineers went very positive and I answered all questions correctly. I was almost certain that I got the job, I was surprised after following up with HR that they are continuing the search.

      Test Engineer Interview

      Jan 28, 2019
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Aristocrat

      Interview

I was contacted by a recruiter and told I was an excellent candidate for their Test Engineering position after applying with them. I asked them to visit my website which has among other things a picture of myself (I am a minority). A week goes by and I did not get any word back from them so I followed-up by email. They told me I was still being considered a candidate. Three weeks later I followed-up again at which point I was told I was no longer being considered a candidate. They did not give me any reason whatsoever. I am extremely qualified for the position based on my work experience and I have a Masters Degree in Computer Science but did not even receive a phone interview after they contacted me!
