      Frontend Developer Interview

      Jan 26, 2022
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Ataccama in Nov 2021

      Interview

When I applied for this position and read through all the reviews, I honestly thought, it cannot be that bad as people described it here. Well, it can! Long story short: Applied in september, got a response for the first screening in November. After 2-3 weeks they responded again, that I can go to the second interview. On the meeting the HR who wasn’t talking much but at least she was smiling, a developer and the product manager was present, the last mentioned 2 people was so bored and out of interest that it was super uncomfortable. I was thinking I should make questions to myself and answer them. The developer was barely speaking any english and I had to guess what was his question, because if I remember well, there was only one. After all of this, I thought there is no chance for the next round, but guess what, they sent me a take-home challenge. I got one week to finish it. Challenge: take an Adobe XD design and make a pixel perfect website, whatever what tools and frameworks you use. The main concept was to animate an svg by scrolling and for bonuses animate the whole page. I asked some clarifying questions and started to build. I used GSAP library because they mentioned it, although for the whole package you must pay, so I had to hardcode some parts to be able to use it properly and reveal the svg path on scroll. Obviously if you would pay, you would have more features and could make it with less code, but it was too expensive just for a take home challenge. So with all the bonuses and the pixelperfect coded app was sent back in 6 days. After 2 weeks, I sent them a follow up if there is any news?! They answered that there is so much work they couldn’t check it yet but they will get back to me. Another 3weeks later I sent my second follow up..(we are in mid january) and they answered that unfortunately I am not the one. No feedback, no explanation, no reasons. I was really disappointed because I would completely understand if they’ve given me a feedback and I can learn from my mistakes, but knowing that everything I made was completely aligned with the project brief and also made some extra things on it, put 25+ hours of work in it because I was enjoying it so much and this is what you get. I sent another email if they could give me some feedback, they ignored me completely since. So to be honest, this is feel like I worked for them for free while they don’t appreciate candidates at all and take advantages of them. This was my worst interview experience ever. But now I know at least I can trust those people who wrote those reviews before me.
