In 2020, I had an initial phone screening with a recruiter then two interviews with the finance department via Zoom. The first interview went fairly well and the gentleman (possibly the controller?) was personable, respectful, and a pleasure to interview with. The second interviewer was with the CFO, Glenna Mileson, who turned out to be quite rude and cold. I finished the interview but the moment it began, I quickly realized Athira wasn't the right company for me.
Furthermore, there was clearly a disconnect within the finance department as information that I received from the first interview was knocked down by the CFO, and she proceeded to speak to me in a belittling manner. It was a disappointing experience all around. Not just as an interview but, more so, as an interaction in general. I would not recommend working for Athira based on my experience. If I remember correctly, they were growing quickly so that must have played a large role in the lack of organization/disconnect. So, this may have improved by now. However, there's no excuse for the attitude I received. I don't believe any amount of skill or intelligence justifies employing people who don't have a grip on common decency.
