I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Atomwise (San Francisco, CA) in Jul 2022
Interview
I applied for the position in July and completed my process by 3rd week in July. I am a recent graduate and did not expect to honestly be received the way I was by their team. The interview scheduler was prompt and helped me secure an interview quickly with their recruiter. The recruiter was very kind, and talked to me about the role and also gave some good advice about career paths and compensation. The hiring manager made time for me quickly when he learned about my competing offer. Long story short, I could not relocate and ended up not accepting offer. I do wish I was able to move to SF as the offer was stronger than the one I accepted, people seemed kind and it was a good learning opportunity for me.
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Atomwise in Jun 2022
Interview
This was the most disorganized recruiting process I have ever experienced. I dedicated 2.5 hours to completing a take-home test, which I aced, and then got no substantive response for a month despite asking repeatedly. For one interview, the recruiter told me that there would be two interviewers, and there was only one. For another interview, the recruiter told me that it would be behavioral questions, and it was technical. This company seems unable to decide whether they're actually hiring people.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What are the advantages and disadvantages of using a list vs. a tuple in Python?
The process was straight forward. The recruiter was very nice. But, zero diversity.
I was asked random questions from philosophy of software engineering, agile methodology, concepts, etc.
The system design part wasn't difficult. Since two people wanted different design, and they didn't even know what they were asking. They didn't provide any example of what they wanted and it seemed like it was Google Drive, high cloud computing, or design Github. I couldn't understand what they wanted.
