      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at BDT in Oct 2022

      Interview

This was really weird... After applying, I received an email from a recruiter stating that they are very interested in me. In the email, I was asked to click on a link, re-read the job description, then "re-apply" and answer questions if I was still interested in the position. The JD was the same, and asked cursory questions such as US work authorization, comfortable about remote work, and the RIDICULOUS target salary range. (That alone should have been the only Red Flag I needed!). Then, there were three essay questions: 1) "Why do you feel that you would be an excellent fit for this opportunity?" 2) "Describe an issue you were able to resolve for a large (e.g. Fortune 100, etc.) corporate client while you were in a position similar to this one. Please include the size of the company (feel free to leave out the company name), the issue/problem, the steps you personally identified and took to resolve it, what you did vs delegate, and the solution." 3) "Is there anything else you'd like us to know?" I spent a great deal of time answering each one, and probably spent too much time with the ambiguity of the last question. Fortunately, I coped all of my answers... I answered the questions, completed the essays, and re-applied. Furthermore, I also replied to the initial email, stating that my new application was submitted. FOUR days later, I received the EXACT SAME email, asking me to review, answer questions, and re-apply, with the same link. Huh? I wrote to the recruiter to inform him of this duplicate, yet would resubmit the application kit that I completed four days earlier. (Thank goodness I copied my essay answers!) I also asked about the nest steps in the process. Just two days later, I receive the ubiquitous rejection letter: "After careful consideration, we have filled this opening and are no longer hiring for this position. We appreciate your time and interest, and will keep your contact information on file and contact you should any other positions open up that might be a great fit. In the meantime, we wish you the best of luck in your search." Filled??? Wow, that was quick! That was three days ago, and the position is still posted and accepting applications. Why in the world would they ask me to jump through their hoops twice, just to get rejected like that? In the end, if this is a reflection of how they operate, I am glad I did not get the job!

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

I have the pertinent questions listed in the Interview Process Section. Also, I thought it peculiar about their Salary Range question. Here it is, and you be the judge: "Without revealing your current or historical earnings, what is your target salary? This information is required in order to proceed to the next step, but will not lock you into a particular salary. Feel free to list a range and/or assumptions if desired. Please note that bonuses are not provided, and also that 100% health and dental insurance coverage is provided for employees and their spouses and dependents."
