      Security Summer Placement Interview

      Apr 30, 2018
      Anonymous employee
      Ipswich, England
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at BT Group (Ipswich, England) in Apr 2018

      Interview

The process for this role was very interesting and unique. First, after the normal online application, I was invited to an online interview. Next, it was a technical telephone interview. The assessment center was the last stage. Here's a detailed breakthrough of each stage: - Online interview : This interview was very simple and natural. Questions asked were similar to the following: Why BT? Why this role? What is your motivation? And questions similar. No technical knowledge is required. You just need to answer honestly and naturally. - Technical Telephone interview: This interview was very intensive in terms of knowledge required. You are given 7 topics and asked to pick two, where you'll be interviewed about technical terms, and technical knowledge regarding these topics. - Assessment center: This stage was the one I preferred. It was by far the most original and unique assessment center I've attended. 5 different stages exist in the assessment center. * A group discussion: You are given a topic to discuss with your group. You are tested on teamwork, and how well you perform in a group. Tips for this is being natural, not interrupting people, and being open to others' opinions. * 1 on 1 Interview: This interview is very similar to the online interview but in person. You are asked to talk about a time when you... (eg. worked in a team, communicated efficiently ... ) * Technical exercise: During the assessment center, at one point, you are required to do a technical test. In my area, this was a task that consisted in understanding code, and writing an algorithm. *Micro test: This is a 15-minute test, that is very interesting. It is not technical, and you are tested on your ability to communicate instructions and to explain a topic you've been handed. *Finally, the best part, a VR (Virtual Reality) exercise: You are lead to a VR room, where they will explain how to use the VR system. You are then required to perform multiple tasks, that are very interesting, and fun (Don't consider it a game though, because you are assessed.) To conclude, overall, despite the few challenges faced during this process, it is a very unique, original, and instructive process. You get to learn a lot about yourself. Tips: - Research BT as a company, its values, and its atmosphere - Know why you want to work in your field, and what makes you stand out from other candidates. - Don't stress, they are all very nice people that are trying to help you not make you more stressed. - No matter the outcome, learn from previous mistakes ( Ps. I got plenty of rejections beforehand, so don't let rejections bring you down, it is normal)

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at BT Group in Jan 2018

      Interview

An online application followed by some online tests, then a video interview and later then to an assessment centre. Didn't managed to pass the video interview and no feedback was given apart from the automated feedback report for the online test.
