What inspires you? Why did you choose your area of study?

Interview
Very tedious interview pipeline. Initial application requires you to record video answers, with a 50 second time limit, for some questions such as "Talk about a project you're proud of. What did you learn?".
They don't even have a dedicated HR person so a lady in Marketing handles the initial screening interview and is your main point of contact. The initial screening interview is just behavioral questions about you and your background.
After that, you get an online assessment. They're using a service called TestDome, probably because it's much cheaper than HackerRank. The assessment is a 10 questions test with half of the questions being obtuse and without relevancy to software development (what shape comes next in the pattern type of questions). The rest of the questions are trivia about UML designs and some runtime stuff. No actual writing code.
Don't expect any response from the point of contact. Email interaction is nil.

Interview
Email link to fill out written responses and record a video. Then zoom meeting with marketing person who asks basic questions to get to know you. Then a link to a 10 question assessment to “see where you’re at”. Told right off the bat that it will be difficult but 50% is considered passing. Assessment questions honestly did not seem like a good way to gauge candidates skills, mostly multiple choice and some questions are very random. Reached out after not hearing for over a week and was told I was no longer considered.
I get that recruiters deal with a lot of applicants, but if someone is investing the time to get through even part of the interview process, I think they deserve to be told as soon as they are no longer considered. Don’t wait until they reach out to ask you for an update. The job application process is stressful and the least you can do as a recruiter is let a candidate know as soon as possible that they are not moving forward instead of keeping them in the dark and waiting. That is part of your job.
