I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Belfast City Council (Belfast, Northern Ireland) in Oct 2025
Interview
All online. It felt very rushed and a tad unprofessional. Straightforward enough questions but hard to get a read on things with it being online and the whole thing felt rushed and like you were under pressure to answer the questions. It was stressed that in the 30 minute time slot for interview it was only 20 minutes for questions and that it would be up to ourselves to manage our own time, which is fair enough, but maybe the delivery could have been better. Lots of do this and don’t do that. Mange your time. Don’t tell anyone the questions of the interview. If we suspect you’re using aids you will be asked to stop etc. Which is all fair enough but it just felt like you were being accused of things before the interview even started in the way it was conveyed. Didn’t like the process at all. Maybe face to face it wouldn’t have felt so regimented and like an interrogation. It’s hard to pick things up properly online.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Won’t add any as for legal reasons they make you agree to terms that you won’t share the questions online. I will say this, the job description said it was a marketing and events role and was titled as a marketing and events assistant. The application form asked a mixed number of questions on both marketing and events, the interview was only marketing based questions with zero mention of events.
