I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Blacklane (Berlin) in Sep 2025
Interview
The process is very straightforward and simple: one technical coding round (1.5h), one technical system design round (1.5h), and the last round is a meeting with a team or with a hiring manager. During the coding interview, they allow you to use Google, but I did not use this opportunity. The system design round is pretty standard: you are given a problem and have to design a system to address it. The interviewers on the system design could not always give me clear answers to my questions (e.g. Q from the interviewers: "What would you do regarding security?" Q from me: "What do you mean \"security\'? Could you clarify?" A: "For instance, you have a public handler"). I was told that I haven't addressed the security properly, though the design was secure enough for the level of the given clarification. The first round interviewers were very polite and helpful. The final feedback was elaborate. Overall, I can't complain.

Question 1
Design a system that shows market stock prices on a scale from a couple of minutes to several years
I applied online. I interviewed at Blacklane (Madrid) in Mar 2026
Interview
The interview process was clearly shared and defined. It started with a screening interview which included a few high level technical questions that were going to be shared with the team.
Then it followed a live coding exercise assited by AI tools. A few days later I had a system design interview and lastly a more cultural interview before getting an offer.
As I said the process was great, smooth and well organised. It also was quick, less than 2 weeks since the screening to the offer.

Question 1
One of the questions I had was: From my perspective what is a good engineer?
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Blacklane (Berlin) in Oct 2025
Interview
The interview was smooth, and the people were all nice and friendly. They showed empathy and involvement.
Overall, it took around 2 weeks from the recruiter contact to the offer.
The process consists of 3 steps.
First is a coding challenge. This one is a bit different from other companies, as they allow you to Google things if you can explain what you are googling and what you need.
Next is a system design. You will be asked to design a system, draw a diagram using a Miro board, and explain your decisions.
The last one is a behavioral part with the team leaders.
In my case, we didn't have much time for my questions, so I sent them to HR, and the team responded to each question within one day.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Blacklane in Sep 2025
Interview
An initial technical chat followed by a coding interview, a system design interview and a final, culture fit interview.
Everyone was very friendly yet professional and the technical exercises were challenging without being arbitrary.
