      Financial Sales and Analytics Interview

      Jul 26, 2018
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Bloomberg (London, England) in Dec 2017

      Interview

Way too many stages in the interview process. Got to the second last stage- interview with 2 managers from Sales and Analytics. Friendly enough. One manager was in the room with me, the other connected via video conferencing- a horrible mess as you have to keep turning your head to the TV to keep engaged with both managers. Bloomberg tries to sell you the idea that you can come from any background as they have world-class finance training- but then in the interview will hammer you with specific finance/market questions and are perplexed if you can't answer them. Even worse, a friend actually got rejected because she said that if she would do a Master's it would be in international business- not finance- and this was the reason for rejection in the feedback. You will be asked to do a Sales pitch- the interviewer will keep firing back at your sale attempt- and if it's not 100% perfect they will reject you. They will ask you what other companies you are interviewing with/where you applied, and if you say any company or any other field they will reject you because "Bloomberg is not your first choice". I got the impression they want you to prove that you need them- not that the company needs you. They will look for any and all reasons to reject you based on a small factoid or 1 word you said wrong. Overall a very demanding and interrogating interview, which is a million times harder than any big 4 assessment center (where I just landed a job offer).
