      Entry Level Management Trainee Interview

      Apr 8, 2018
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Warwick, RI
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Blue Wave RI (Warwick, RI) in Apr 2018

      Interview

Received a cold email/cold call from Cristina in "human resources" regarding "the position" as if I had already applied for it. I wish I had not responded. BlueWave is simply outsource door to door sales for Verizon. Nothing more. Claims were made that the company has agreements with other "fortune 500 and fortune 100 companies". Yet, all I heard during the process was Verizon, Verizon, Verizon. When I was "offered" the "job", I was given a sales pitch sheet for, you guessed it, Verizon. So, before even being on boarded or oriented, I was told to memorize how to pitch Verizon services. What company tells you to do work before they've even verified your identity or your eligibility to work in the United States? I was given very little information in the initial phone call, and was immediately schedule for a person-to-person interview. That interview lasted 20 minutes and I was immediately scheduled for a second interview, on a Saturday. This was to be an hour long meeting that would result in both ends determining whether the job would be a good fit. I was told the team would be on site because of "too many snow days". Based on a previous interview review, and the fact that all the candidates I interacted with in the first interview were there the next day, this is just a BlueWave norm. Nothing special. BlueWave will take any functioning human. After over an hour, I was able to spend four minutes, yes a whole four minutes, with Rob - the owner. He indicated that he was looking for candidates who would grow to be a business partner - someone to run the business. Yet, in those four minutes, he took no look at my experience, nor did he inquire. He left the room for 60 seconds and came back to offer me the position. But here's the kicker: he explained, to my face, that I was being hired due to my immediate availability, due to "contract restrictions with Verizon". Nice.
