      Inside Sales Account Manager Interview

      Mar 15, 2019
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Brilliant POS

      Interview

The interview process was very informal and laidback. I am typically a fan of the informal interview because it frees up the candidate to be themselves during the interview process. I was initially contacted by one of the founders about a week after submitting my resume. The conversation was informal but also lacked a certain degree of professionalism from the interviewer. The call started late (which sometimes happens), and he seemed unprepared for the interview. No problem, because you have to be able to roll with the punches. During the brief phone screen with the co-founder, we talked about my qualifications and the role. As peculiar as it sounds, the interviewer seemed like he was attempting to talk me out of the job. After we part ways, my first thoughts are that the interview didn't go well, so I did not expect a follow-up. Low and behold, a few days later I am contacted by the initial interviewer about setting up a time for an in-person visit to the site. I oblige and set up a time for the following week. I was asked to set apart two hours for the interview, which means that I need to take time away from my current job to interview for the position. Not a problem I thought as two hours would allow us to have an in-depth conversation about the role and my ability to work it. Besides the two hours which I had to take off for the interview, I also had 30 minutes of travel time, each direction. No problem I thought, because I was interested in the position. At this point, I get rolling with the punches, as is necessary during the interview process. That said, asking someone to take a whole morning off for a two-hour interview, not including an hour of travel time, only to be seen for 30 minutes is a bit unprofessional. The actual conversation with the interviewers was straightforward. However, it didn't appear that I was a match for the company. The role itself sounded promising, and the environment seemed open. Unfortunately, I think Brilliant POS needs to continue to refine their hiring process to be more accommodating. It felt unorganized and slightly chaotic. I am sure that for the right person this position is a good fit. Good luck finding it though.
