I applied online. I interviewed at CARVANA (Scottsdale, AZ) in Apr 2017
Interview
Phone interview was scheduled via email and was easily set up. The interviewer was upbeat, high energy, enthusiastic and very knowledgeable about the position and the company. We discussed the culture and the details of the position then began to discuss my previous experience and what I was looking for in my next role. I was a bit overqualified for what they were looking for, and the interviewer [Amy] was very candid and transparent. She even actually called me back once she had met with the hiring managers. No black hole! Impressive.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Describe my experience, help her understand my strengths and how they would match the position requirements, describe value I could add, what I like vs don't love in my job.
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at CARVANA (Concord, NC) in Oct 2025
Interview
1. Company doesn't know how to evaluate talent.
2. Screening process normal, HR friendly
3. In person Interview was unprofessional. Dress code even for blue collar was cotton shorts and a raggy T.
4. Knew more about Lean, Production, Operations, and leading teams.
Interviewer would repeat things after I said them in the interview.
5. Leader believed the entire facility would be running smooth in two weeks. To properly implement 6S it will take 3 to 6 months if done right.
6. Impersonal non-selection email with no reason. Guess is overqualified or agism.
Fairly easy, especially for the manager position. Simple questions and not enough vetting. It goes from recruiter to hiring managers to job offer. From there, it is little to no communication leading up to first day of the job/training.

Interview
Phone interview went ok. Did not receive a call back. Seemed to want someone willing to work 70hours a week. Probably could tell that was not for me. Otherwise friendly
