It started with an extensive written editing tests regimen--much more than I've seen elsewhere. Next was a fairly detailed phone interview. The interviewer was responsive to questions and presented the company well. I got an offer, but the contract would have locked me into 2 years working with them and also many very specific hoops to jump through such as purchasing specific services and software. It didn't seem good enough a pay structure to justify the move. They wanted to treat me like an employee but give no benefits.
