      Freelance Writer Interview

      Declined offer

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Captain Words (Celje, Celje) in Feb 2024

      Interview

Initially, a recruiter contacted me via LinkedIn about a freelance writing position. Despite concerns over low pay, the recruiter suggested potential for negotiation based on quality work. I agreed to proceed. The process involved creating an introductory video and completing an unpaid test comprising English assessments, 1 game review, an automotive article, and an igaming quiz, totaling 4-5 hours as I had to spend time researching, learning and playing the game for the gaming article and researching topics in the automotive industry. Following review and approval, a contract was offered, lacking clarity on compensation for training and meetings, with pay solely based on word count ($0.014 per word), expecting 10,000 words monthly. Despite voicing concerns, the recruiter's subsequent outreach on LinkedIn seemed disconnected. Given the nominal compensation ($3.50 per hour), I declined the offer as we had come to an impasse.
