Part of our job when screening candidates is to ask more questions so we can determine if a phone interview, as a first step, is warranted and subsequently, we ask more questions throughout the entire recruiting/interview process to help us arrive at a decision to offer them a job and hire them. However, when asked about your direct sales history, especially cold calling , your response was simply, “I will never elaborate.” If a candidate does not share the same desire to get to know each other, or at a minimum elaborate to help us with our evaluation, it is natural for us to move on to more engaged applicants. Perhaps you have the wrong company as we do not work with third party recruiters as you indicated. Best of luck in your search!
