      IT Analyst Interview

      Sep 15, 2009
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Raleigh, NC
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Cisco (Raleigh, NC) in Sep 2009

      Interview

Initial interview with the hiring manager. Focused on more detailed explanation of the position, since the posting was quite vague and broad based. Once the position was explained we discussed my background, strengths, and examples of relevant accomplishments. Ideally, the manager is looking for a more technical person, so my background, MBA/marketers the past 6 years and previously a mechanical engineer, didn't ideally fit the need for a software engineer with at least some business background.

      Application

      Interview

The first round of the interview process was a panel interview by various team members. They asked several questions relating to my work history and experience before tasking me with white-boarding a hypothetical problem.

      Question 1

They asked for me to code a dropdown navigation menu using HTML, JavaScript, and CSS. Once it was complete, they asked if it was possible to do it without using JavaScript and if so, how.

      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Cisco in Jan 2017

      Interview

The Interview process was pretty straight forward. I received an email from the IT director and was invited to apply for a position. I applied and a few weeks later was given an interview date, it was the holidays so my interview date was after the holidays. I interview over their webex conferencing. Interview went well and I was told to look out for something from HR. Needless to say it's now been over 2 months and I haven't heard back from them. A little disappointed, I was really looking forward to showcase my skills for them. Note: I only gave a negative experience due to the lack of contact post interview, a courtesy would have been to send a we are looking at another candidate or something of the sort.
