    Software Engineering Manager Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Chicago, IL
    No Offer
    Negative Experience
    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied in-person. The process took 4+ months. I interviewed at Citadel Securities (Chicago, IL) in January 2018.

    Interview

Too easy -- made me concerned with the quality of my prospective co-workers. Too opaque -- everyone was full of promises and excitement and we had specific conversations about the role and the product but then without any explanation I was asked to interview with a different group and then radio silence. Recruiter claimed some internal politics. I'd hate to take an offer from them and be subjected to similar lack of transparency once they had captured me. Chaotic, disrespectful.

    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4+ months. I interviewed at Citadel Securities (Chicago, IL).

    Interview

First I had a phone screen with the recruiter, next a phone screen with the hiring manager. Once I passed those I had an in person with approximately 6 people. It took weeks to hear back, but the recruiter kept in contact. It felt like they were stringing me along while they searched to see if there was someone better. 4 months after my in person interview they offered the job.

    Interview Questions

    • Most questions were scenarios. Everyone was clearly competent and knew the industry well. They tried to put you in real world scenarios to see what you would do.   Answer Question

    Quantitative Researcher Interview

    Anonymous Employee in Chicago, IL
    Accepted Offer
    Positive Experience
    Difficult Interview

    Application

The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Citadel Securities (Chicago, IL) in July 2017.

    Interview

It was a great experience. First, a phone screen with the company's Campus Recruiter asking about my background and my internship experience. After that, two technical phone interviews, followed by a full-day onsite interview in their Chicago office. The onsite interview was intensive, but a great chance to meet smart people working there. The whole interview process lasted about four weeks, and received the offer in about another 10 days. The recruiter is very professional and experienced. When she called me about the offer, she even explained the benefits in detail to me, which is very helpful to a fresh graduate.

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Citadel Securities.

    Interview

Difficult online test followed by phone interviews. I was rejected after the first phone interview. Online test focused on probability and statistics, interview focused on coding, which is not my background. I did not expect the heavy focus on coding, so was unprepared. Interviewer was helpful and gave hints.
