      People Partner Interview

      Mar 11, 2024
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      San Diego, CA
      Declined offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Clipboard (San Diego, CA) in Feb 2024

      Interview

Overall I had a great experience interviewing at Clipboard Health. It was a long, time intensive process but expectations were well set up front so nothing came as a surprise. It was a five step process that consisted of a few short written situational questions, a half hour video interview with a people partner, a longer case study that took me about a week (I put a lot of time into it, it definitely could've been completed quicker), a half hour video interview with the hiring manager, and then a 20 minute video interview with the president. Everyone I met with on the team was super friendly and answered my questions well. One of the things that really impressed me about the process was how good of an understanding I felt like I had by the end of what it would be like to work at Clipboard Health. Their interview process is definitely atypical and requires a lot of work but I think it does a really good job of isolating candidates who are good fits for the roles/culture. It seems like CBH has a unique and strong culture that is definitely not for everyone but if you're an idea person, an outside the box thinker, and want a lot of autonomy in your role, it seems like a great company to land at. I ended up declining the offer due to some personal reasons that changed my priorities but have nothing but good things to say about the company and will definitely keep them on my radar down the line.

      Interview

TLDR - Proceed with caution. I would not recommend considering interviewing/employment with Clipboard Health. I applied in September and heard back about 10 days later, receiving an automated invitation to complete two written case scenarios. I wasn't given a deadline but I completed it within 3 days and it took me about 2-3 hours to complete in total. About a week later I was sent an automated invitation to book a 30 minute video interview (note: up to this point I hadn't spoken to a single human from Clipboard Health). The calendar showed no availability for 2.5 weeks (which was odd to me as a Recruiter myself). I went ahead and booked for that interview 2.5 weeks out. I had read the company Glassdoor reviews prior to applying but not the *interview* reviews. It was during this timeframe I read the interview reviews and learned of the concerning interview practices experienced by candidates of various fields. At that point, I decided to not take time to prepare for the interview and treat it as practice since it was the first invitation to interview for this application "season" for me. When it came to the actual interview, the interviewer asked me a question similar to one of the written assessment prompts but not exactly the same. Then they asked me a separate question regarding another prompt, and this time they expanded on the scenario to understand what I would do in that situation with the new information. They also asked me the general interview q of "tell me about a time you made a mistake," etc etc. We reached the 30 minute mark by the time I answered their questions and we were 1-2 mins past when I was able to fit in a question. I asked "what are the bigger picture goals of the People department at CBH currently?" The interview gave a generic answer, seemed a bit blindsided by what I felt was a basic question. All in all, listen to the reviews. Clearly CBH needs to get themselves together with their recruiting standards. I was excited about the company initially, looking to support the healthcare industry in my next role, but I would tell any prospective candidates to proceed with caution. There are a variety of reviews that share my sentiment. Also, the interview process as a whole was not warm/inviting and considering the hiring process is most candidate's first introduction to the company, that's absolutely a red flag.

      Interview

After applying I received a 4-part case study request asking to basically come up with an entire recruitment strategy which was a 5+ hour long and it only took them 1 hour from submission to reject it which makes me think if anybody even looked at it. Wish I read the reviews on here first - FREE WORK!
