      Principal Software Engineer Interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at CloudZero (Boston, MA)

      Interview

Had a first call with the internal Recruiter who provided deeper detail on the company, position, and market than I have usually gotten from other calls. I was then setup on a zoom with the hiring manager and then asked to complete a take-home assessment. I enjoyed my call with the hiring manager. We dug into the team specifics and my overall accomplishments and problems I've solved. Was given an assessment to do on my own time, not a big fan of these because it's hard to find the time to get it done. The problem was given through Github, requires some basic criteria that a solution needs to follow. I had fun with the problem but not 100% sure what they are looking for in a response. Do they want something basic to get it back faster or something more circumstantial? After a few days the recruiter got back to me letting me know the team liked my solution and invited to meet with 3 other engineers on the team. The interview got setup quickly and I was provided with a good understanding of what each interview would be focused on. The 3 interviews went okay. They didn't ask anything I haven't been ask before in other interviews, it seemed pretty standard. Based upon the interviews, I wasn't ask to continue in the process. While I don't agree with the decision because I don't feel like the questions they asked dug into the reasons why they didn't move forward, I did appreciate the feedback. Not sure when this changed for companies but that is something I haven't gotten much of.
