I applied for a senior role at Cobalt Housing. The official recruitment pack explicitly stated that successful applicants would first undergo a 20-minute virtual interview before progressing to an in-person final stage. However, I was directly invited to an in-person interview in Knowsley Business Park for 09:30 AM. As a candidate travelling from London, a 09:30 AM start is logistically impossible via morning train schedules. When I politely reached out to HR to clarify the format—referencing the virtual stage promised in their own job advert—and requested a later time slot (12:00 PM) to allow for travel, I was told the virtual interview statement was "added to the pack in error." Furthermore, HR was completely inflexible, stating that times could not be amended and that I would simply be withdrawn from the system if I couldn't make it. My inquiry regarding travel reimbursement for out-of-town candidates was also entirely ignored.Advice to future applicants: Be aware that the recruitment materials may contain significant errors regarding the interview process. If you do not live in the immediate Liverpool/Knowsley area, do not expect any flexibility, adjustments, or travel accommodation from HR to help you attend.
