      Backend Engineer Interview

      Dec 22, 2022
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Cobalt Robotics

      Interview

Pretty bad. Shows little respect to candidate preferences. I interviewed with the head of the company in the first round. I coded in the programming language of my choice, and cracked the problem. I clarified it upfront that is my primary programming language for interviews, and I use that for all employers. He moved fast, and I prioritized their onsites, moved out other employers to accommodate their schedule There was limited info provided on onsite round. I walked into onsite, surprised to see two interviewers. One of them was more assertive, and forced me to code in Programming language of interviewers choice, stating they will help with syntax as required. This same person who strongly insisted on his programming language offered no help. He was disengaged with me for most part, not reviewing code, not answering any questions. Other interviewer did offer some help, and seemed to know the language. The assertive person seemed to be around just to force the choice, and do his own work in the interview slot Interviews are stressfully anyway. Putting candidate on the spot with a new problem in a programming language of interviewers choice is just bad. I moved out other employers to accommodate their schedule, when I was laid off at the end of the year. They forced candidate, could not even accommodate programming language for a 45 min interview. Definitely not worth working for
