There have been five meetings, and one more to be scheduled. In detail, the first meeting was with HR, then followed by a technical interview, then I had a home assessment, then a quick meeting with HR, then 1 design interview and 1 live coding interview in one day, then a final interview with HR and one more interview was about to be scheduled. Overall, the interview process was very long. The design interview included questions about frontend and backend systems. Unfortunately, the interviewer was an SQL maximalist and when I mentioned NoSQL databases and their advantages, it created a bad atmosphere. It was highlighted that I did not ask enough questions during the live coding interview. The coding challenges were mostly straightforward. I always explained my thoughts during the coding part, but the interviewer seemed uninterested, not paying attention, was quiet, and was probably reading something on a different screen.

I met some interesting people during the interview process, and some of it was worthwhile. But the live coding was a joke, the first and last time i will do something like that. I completely disagree with the value of it. I couldnt think in that environment, and it has no relevance to the reality or challenges of working as a software engineer. After 4 interviews they disregarded me based on some nonsense that AI code assistants have made redundant. But it was all for the best in the end, i found a higher paying job a couple of weeks later working on a much more interesting product. Based on the importance placed on live coding over any actual challenges of software engineering, it struck me they are looking for work horse devs, probably needed to rewrite some mess leftover by the people who designed the live coding interview.
