Standard interview process with a panel of three.with some technical questions.
The expectation was for highly technical responses which is usually different to what is the norm in an interview.
Information received beforehand was that the site is exceedingly complex and difficult to comprehend but this does not appear to be the case when explained better by the panel. A good senior DBA will comprehend and tune easily with effort involved.
The company is apparently not looking for competence so much as someone who will be a cross between someone at an Amway Conference and running down the steps like a typical TV loony on The New Price is Right. You must be "excited" and have concocted an excellent answer for why you want to work there even if the company and what they offer a DBA is not well known.
It may well be an excellent place to work but their expectations are skewed away from skills towards excitement to be there.
"Senior DBA!!! Where are you??? Come on down!!" (whistle whistle cheer cheer).
