      Application

      I interviewed at DAS42

      Interview

I went through a multi-round interview (5-6 rounds) process at DAS42 for a job that pays 60-70k USD. The process involves phone screening, coding round, Looker dashboard analysis, and panel round. As an international student requiring sponsorship, I found the experience to be disappointing. I received a rejection in the middle of an interview step without feedback. It was a mass rejection as most of my colleagues got it too. It would have been helpful if DAS42 had been upfront about their sponsorship policy at the outset of the process. This would have saved me considerable time and effort. I would recommend DAS42 to native students, but for international students who require sponsorship, I would suggest seeking clarification on the company's policy before investing time and effort in the interview process as the same thing happened last year with my seniors.

      Interview

I first learned about the career opportunities at DAS42 through their campus recruiting efforts. As a result, I had opportunity to network with numerous employees prior to submitting my formal application. After submitting my application, I had a phone call with a senior team member that served as a relaxed behavioral interview (really more of a "get to know you" type call), and an in-person meeting with multiple team members and applicants that served the same purpose. Following that, there was an open ended case assignment which intended to test applicants' competency in professional communication and basic analytics as well as report writing and presentation. Finally, there was a full day of in-person behavioral interviews with different team members and a relatively average technical interview. Throughout the entire process, the DAS42 team was highly transparent, timely and considerate. The process was incredibly thorough, a trait which may sound intimidating, but is actually quite preferable to the alternative. Variety in both the format and content of the interviews allowed numerous opportunities for a given applicant's unique skills to shine through. For that reason alone, potential candidates should feel encouraged by the relative rigor of DAS42's interview process.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

The majority of the application based questions focused on the candidate's ability to translate data engineering concepts and methodologies into actionable steps for a client. Beyond this, relatively standard behavioral questions focused primarily on situations pertinent to client communication and workload allocation. Python, R, SQL, Bash and Looker are all fair game on the technical portions of the interview process.

      Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 8 weeks. I interviewed at DAS42 (Broomfield, CO) in Feb 2019

      Interview

Started with on-campus propaganda, attracting everyone applies for their job. A phone interview to see what you're like. Technical interview by doing some useless dashboards on Looker. A lot of waiting around in a room and then a dinner with the team. Got back to me within 2 weeks of their decision. On-site interviews ranged in questions and it was pretty random as every interviewer had their own style, including talking about data analysis with 6-year-old kid.
