So this is a Chinese VC backed startup, their main HQ is in China. Thus the majority of employees are of Chinese descent, American born and of mainland China. Though being close to UCLA, you can get an idea of who they are trying to get involved and who is involved etc They are overly paranoid about what they are working on, which is AI but I can't go into any details as they make you sign an NDA. Either way, they are never really transparent on what they are working on exactly anyway. Very vague, but they are probably vague to people who they aren't going to hire anyway. They will have you sign the NDA agreement before setting up an interview and upon arrival. They also will want a picture of you (again, super paranoid). So since I can't reveal any actual info, I can reveal my experience in terms of how I felt and the outcome. So they will call you, ask questions and based on how you answer you will potentially get an email for an onsite interview. So basically three people interview you. My interview was plagued with equipment malfunction, which ultimately hurt me (if you want to be taken more seriously, please provide adequate equipment - I suggest a proper modern MacBook Pro). Not that I felt like I was going to get the job, as the first person who interviewed me gave me this weird/awkward look on their face upon entering the room (so I felt I was at a loss from the start). Almost like they were expecting someone else (I have theories but w/e). So it's a coding challenge. Then some more behavioral questions with another person. Ultimately ending with more coding with yet another person. Boom, that's it. Nothing too complicated, per se. Just the stuff you expect for the most part. Something to note: they will say there is street parking, but there isn't. Not for the amount of time you have to be there. They don't validate or pay for it, so be careful where you park. I suggest parking at a garage not too far from there. Which is like 15 to 25 bucks. So make sure you are willing to spend 25 bucks just to do their interview.
