When looking for interns, I think the hiring team was mainly looking for interest and willingness to learn. I was asked to share about things I have done as personal projects as well as what I had learnt in university. They were also curious about why I applied to the specific job opening. I was interviewed by 4 people - the department head, the project's supervisor, 1 HR staff and the director of the department.
