In response to this individual’s interpretation of the job requirements and job brief, while previous sales experience was not a mandatory requirement for the role, it was clearly outlined as part of the job description in the following words...
"We’re looking for more high-energy, passionate, aggressive, sales-minded professionals to join our team!
… "you will be managing relationships with Social Media Influencers, which means prospecting new Influencers and nurturing relationships with existing Influencers to achieve monthly sales goals and elevate our portfolio of consumer lifestyle brands."
Day-to-Day tasks as outlined in the brief also concluded with “Have fun growing the business AND growing your bottom line!”
A Sales component was specifically addressed with the recruiter in the initial interview as well. All candidates interviewed for the position were ask the following questions, along with others relevant to the role:
1. This is a role with a traditional, sales closer element & commissions. Have you ever worked in position where commissions were part of your compensation?
2. In your current or most recent sales role, what sort of KPIs are in place to measure your success?
3. Do you consistently hit your sales goals?
A Sales element was also explicit when the compensation structure that includes sales commission was outlined, as well as all interactions that followed to gage candidate’s continued interest in and understanding of the role, all of which are documented.
