I applied to the project coordinator role on the DemandLab site and was requested to interview a few days later. I received a Teams Invite from their recruiter.
The interview was strange and still stands as one of the most bizarre interviews that I have ever had. First, the interviewer did not have her camera on which is poor etiquette, left me talking to a black screen. After reading another interview review, looks like this is how their recruiters behave generally.
Regardless of that the call went well and the recruiter said she’d like to put me forward to meet with the hiring manager.
Immediatly after the call I received an automated email that the Teams call was recorded/ a picture of me was taken by a software called ReadAI (without my knowledge or consent) and rated by AI. The report was infuriating. The AI graded me on things that have nothing to do with my experience or job function. An example being, the tone of my voice. I received a high 90 percentile score but felt that it was shady to record/ have AI score someone without their consent. It takes a few seconds to let the candidate know that it was going to happen.
Furthermore, the company was offering way below market rate but looking for someone with experienced capabilities. Such is the job market I guess. Not a go for me.
Advice- Hire recruiters that treat candidates with respect-Don’t leave them talking to a black screen on a Teams call. *Do not* take pictures or record people without their consent/ without informing them.
