      Sales Interview

      May 28, 2020
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Docusign in Apr 2020

      Interview

I have had many recruiters from DocuSign reach out to me via LI for close to a year now, so I finally agreed to a recent message from one asking if I had interest in the company. Once on the phone screen, without exaggeration, I could not understand a word the recruiter was saying - her voice was so soft and she talked so incredibly fast my head was spinning. I have never in my 10 years of sales had this issue with not understanding what someone is saying. I'm shocked I made it to the next step, as I wasn't sure if I was answering her questions or not - it was a lot of guessing on my end. This wasn't exactly what I'd be expecting from a recruiter. First red flag (how could a company hire someone to be the first touchpoint of their brand and have them sound so unprofessional?) She also didn't have any preliminary information about the job, and when I asked how the company is handling COVID-19 (something that most would like to know if they are considering making a move right now), she had no response. She sent me to another recruiter who took 2 weeks to get back to me with a date and time that worked for her for another interview (same as first recruiter interview, but this recruiter at least knew more about the role and company). After that, I was sent on to a Hiring Manager. Had a great conversation, which went over the allotted 30 minutes (I've interviewed a lot of people in my lifetime, and I have never once spent more than the allocated time with people I don't plan on pushing forward) with the Hiring Manager, who said they would share a positive review to move me to the next step. That was over 2 weeks ago. Crickets since then. Not even a rejection letter (if in fact, they are even rejecting me). Kind of assumed if I was rejected, I'd get an automated reply. All things considered, once I do hear back (if I do, rather), I have no interest in moving forward with this company due to this messy and unprofessional process. I would've expected more from a company like DocuSign, and it bums me out that this was the experience I had.

      Interview

The company’s recruitment process is usually very indicative of how organized the overall company is run. The entire interview process was a dumpster fire. Communication, interviewers showing up, follow ups and feedback. I don’t recall going through such a terrible process ever.

      Interview

In all my professional career, I have never had a company I was interviewing with, handle such a lengthy interview process with such disrespect and unprofessionalism for the candidate. There were many red flags throughout the process, including between each of the interview steps, a 2-3 weeks gap with zero communication or response from DocuSign. After 2 -3 weeks of silence, they would suddenly reach out again to schedule the next interview. Due to lengthy process, about half way through, I reconfirmed that we were still on the page regarding the experience they desired for the role, compensation, etc. I was assured that we were on the same page and that they had multiple "levels" for this role, and that they were seeking someone to bring their knowledge and experience to help the team grow. The entire process from resume submission to a generic “ no thank” response took five (5) months. There were eight (8) interviews, including a presentation. I was also asked to answer several essay like questions early on. In the end, after the eight (8) interviews, I got the “courtesy” of a generic no thank you email. No feedback, no phone call nothing. Doing my research/due diligence after receipt of the email, I saw they reposted the role, a day before I even did my final (8th) interview. They knew they were not going to hire me all along. My gut tells I was used for my business plan, and to gain access to my knowledge/experience, as this division I was interviewing was a relatively new group with the organization.

This is a disappointing review to read and certainly not the experience we want you to have. If you are open to sharing more, please email Nic.Jagoe@docusign.com our VP of Talent Acquisition.
