I met with a director for a screening interview. Usual discussions about CV and relevant previous experience were had. Interviewer was refreshingly open and up front. I asked how the interviewer felt I met their requirements, and asked him to be open and frank with me . He highlighted multiple areas were a good fit, but also was open about areas that were important to them, that I didn't meet. Having had multiple interviews with other companies, where I'd got to final stage of a 5 or 6 stage process, then ghosted, this approach was a huge relief, even though I didn't make it to the next round. We actually hit it off and had a very candid conversation . If the interviewer is a reflection on the rest of the organisation, and I do believe he was.... I'd say they were a top employer, and also their customer focus was evident too. Perhaps in a few years when I've garnered the experience they are looking for I'll apply again. Definitely the most honest, respectful and insightful interview I've had in the last 18 months.
